About
Giovanna Aryafara’s passion for photography began over four decades ago in Canberra, Australia. Her journey led her to New Zealand, where she worked as a school photographer for several years. Throughout her career, Giovanna has showcased her work in exhibitions across Australia, Germany, Brazil, Thailand, Montenegro, Mexico, and Africa. Notably, she participated in the Africa Photo Festival in New York in 2018 and has been a regular exhibitor at the Atlas of Humanity in Paris and Milan since 2022.
Her accolades include winning the “Culture and Communities” category at the Africa in Focus competition and being a finalist in the Travel Photographer of the Year (TPOTY) Awards in 2020. In 2022, Giovanna was honoured as the Wilderness Safaris Photographer of the Year. Her work was featured in National Geographic Italia and India in 2023, and she received an honourable mention at the International Photography Awards in 2024. In 2025, Giovanna’s photography was highlighted in Lens Magazine’s Cultural and Big Black and White editions. Additionally, WomenZ Straight Talk Magazine and various African publications have featured her work.

In the heart of Berawa, Canggu, Giovanna Photography Gallery & Coffee House is nestled down a cozy lane. Housed in a beautiful white Javanese wooden Joglo, it’s a space where visitors can enjoy art and house-blend coffee on the outdoor terrace. Across the street, Giovanna and her husband, Donald, co-own Bungalow Living Bali, a renowned homewares store celebrated for its exquisite furniture, cushions, throws, and accessories. Together, these establishments have become a mecca for interiors, shopping, photography, and coffee enthusiasts.
